Arne Slot Maintains He Feels Safe and Retains The Club's Support Following PSV Defeat

The Liverpool head coach admitted that it's natural for concerns to be raised about his future after a further convincing defeat versus the Dutch champions.

Liverpool endured their 9th loss in 12 matches, representing the club's worst streak after being relegated in 1953-54.

They were dominated by the Dutch league title holders on a tough evening at Anfield.

“I feel secure, I am OK, I've received significant backing from management,” Slot commented.

“It's important to turn it around and earn three points obviously but when you're in a managerial role and underperforming then it's typical that people question you.”

He noted, “I'm comfortable with my situation. It is not the first time I've found myself in a challenging situation but it is about time that we improved our results.”

Conversations with The Board

Upon being questioned to expand on his conversations with the Liverpool hierarchy, Slot revealed:

“We communicate frequently. They are supportive for the squad and to me and we have those conversations but they aren't calling me all the time each day to say they have faith in me.”

He mentioned, “In the normal discussions I feel the confidence. But I've not talked to them since this defeat yet so let’s see.”

Persistent Issues and Player Response

Slot highlighted known failings from his team in their Champions League loss, specifically poor finishing and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was more direct in his assessment of the current crisis.

“I haven't got the answers. Honestly, I do not. I'm telling that to everybody,” the midfielder said.

“It is unacceptable. I don't have to wait to consider it. I'm beyond feeling anger inside. I’m at the point now where I simply lack the vocabulary.”

He added, “It's difficult because I play for the team I support. I'm a supporter, and I’ve seen this club for years.”

“In recent memory, I've not seen a Liverpool team experiencing a phase of this nature with outcomes this poor.”

He stated, “However we continue to wear that badge on our chest. And until that badge is taken away, we'll continue to fight.”

“We’re going to try to get this team return to where it needs to be, prove once more what Liverpool stands for and why it's known as the top club in the planet.”

“But right now, we’re in the shit and it needs to change.”
