French and British Jets Attack Underground IS Weapons Store in the Syrian Desert
In a coordinated military action, jets from the UK and France have targeted an subterranean facility in central Syria reportedly occupied by IS.
Details of the Combined Operation
The mission occurred on the evening of Saturday in a hilly terrain near the ancient city of the city of Palmyra.
Laser-guided bombs were utilized to destroy the access tunnels leading to the site.
“Early reports show the objective was effectively neutralized,” announced a defence ministry release.
Forces Deployed
Typhoon FGR4 fighter aircraft carried out the attack, supported by a Voyager air-to-air aerial refuelling aircraft to provide mid-air refuelling.

The underground facility is believed to have been utilized as the warehousing of explosives and armaments.
The military confirmed the vicinity was absent of non-combatants at the point of impact.

The UK's defence chief stated the government's commitment to work closely together with key allies” in order to “stamp out any resurgence” of the militant group.
