Mohamed Salah Extends Apology to Teammates, Discloses Curtis Jones
Jones has disclosed that the Egyptian forward apologised to the team in the wake of the controversy from his public comments.
The Incident
The striker was dropped from a European match following making accusations and claiming his relationship with manager had deteriorated.
“He speaks for himself and he can say his own stuff,” the midfielder said. “His apology was clear and was like: ‘If my words hurt anyone, please accept my apology.’”
Arne Slot has refused to comment publicly on whether he got an explanation from the veteran striker.
Moving Forward
Jones insisted that the squad's reaction was unchanged. “Nothing about him changed, his demeanour was positive and everybody was exactly the same with him,” he continued.
The midfielder also noted that a competitor wanting to play is a positive trait. “I get that there are specific approaches you can go about things,” he said. “Yet, should someone be happy to just sit out, then I think that’s a bigger problem.”
Team Form
Their results have remained strong in the period after the interview fallout. The player is convinced the Salah's words were never meant to harm the team.
“When there’s been any sort of anger, it has consistently come from a good place,” the midfielder stated. “It's behind us and we’re uniting strongly, getting results and starting to win games.”
