Renowned Star Pat Finn, a versatile actor, Known For Roles in The Middle and Friends, Passes Away at the Age of Sixty.

Stateside actor Finn, who featured in popular television series such as Friends, Seinfeld and The Middle, has passed away at 60 years old.

The skilled improv artist succumbed at his home in Los Angeles, California recently having undergone treatment for a cancer diagnosis beginning in 2022, as reported by media reports.

"He never met a stranger - only friends he didn't know yet," his relatives stated in a message.

They added that he had "embraced life completely - with zest and passion".

An Extensive Career on Screen

His debut TV appearance was on a show starring George Wendt in 1995, where he appeared as the titular character's brother.

He also had a repeating character on "Murphy Brown" in the latter half of the 1990s.

He appeared as a party host named Joe Mayo in Seinfeld in 1998, playing a party host famous for delegating tedious tasks to his guests.

During the 90s and 2000s, he made guest appearances on a variety of popular shows, including:

  • "King of Queens"
  • "Friends"
  • That '70s Show
  • House, M.D.

He was most recognized for his portrayal of Bill Norwood in The Middle, starring in eight seasons over nearly a decade.

His film credits include It's Complicated and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups.

A Life in Improv

Away from his television work, Finn was deeply involved in improvisational comedy and worked as a teacher at the University of Colorado, where he was a professor.

He was a member of a six-person improv troupe named Beer Shark Mice.

"Finn guided, supported, and advised many learners during his career and it would be difficult to find a person who has an unkind word to say about him," his family wrote.

Paying homage, colleague and actor Richard Kind noted there was "not a more kind, gentle, or funny, grounded individual you could encounter".

"Perpetually optimistic, helping you be funnier and better. A great dad, a great guy," Kind wrote on social media.

Finn is survived by his spouse Donna, his children, and his family.
