Toronto Blue Jays Claim World Series Matchup With Los Angeles Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

Springer previously helped the Houston Astros winning the World Series in 2017.

The Toronto Blue Jays advanced to their maiden Fall Classic since the 1993 season by defeating the Seattle Mariners in the seventh game seven of the ALCS.

Trailing 3-1, the star outfielder smashed a three-run home run in the seventh inning, guiding the Toronto squad in the majors to a four games to three victory in the best-of-seven series. Awaiting them are the defending champions, holders of the current crown, in the forthcoming World Series.

"I'm thrilled for our team, our city, the nation," commented Springer, a key player of the Astros team that won the 2017 championship. "What an amazing experience."

George Springer has now slugged 23 total playoff homers, placing him third on the list behind Manny Ramirez (29) and Altuve (twenty-seven).

"It's hard to imagine another person in the world that I'd choose in that spot other than Springer with his October magic," remarked manager John Schneider.

Seattle's team, who had led the series 2-0 and 3-2, are still the one club yet to make an appearance in a Fall Classic.

Wilson said "certainly that it hurts" after his team's loss at Rogers Centre, but applauded their performance throughout the year.

"This is a unique group. Sadly that we finished on the losing end of the series," he remarked.

Toronto claimed the championship on each of their earlier trips in 1992 and 1993, and are set to host the Dodgers in game one on this Friday.
